Mrs. Eliza Anna Prien, 62, Lifelong County Resident, Dies.

Mrs. Eliza Anna Prien, 62, who had spent her entire life in this community died at Bellevue hospital at 7:15 a.m. today after a two weeks illness with a kidney ailment. She resided on a farm near Muscatine.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hessler, she was born on Sept. 19, 1880 and spent her childhood on a farm near Durant. She was married to August A. Prien on Sept. 6, 1898. The couple resided for two years on a farm near Blue Grass and in 1900 moved to a farm near Muscatine where Mrs. Prien had resided for the past 43 years.

Mrs. Prien was baptized as an infant and on March 19, 1898 was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran church at Davenport, later transferring her membership to Grace Lutheran church at Muscatine where she continued as an active member until her death.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Schmoldt and Mrs. Lenora Young, both of Muscatine and Mrs. Viola Lowe of Oakdale Ia. a sister Mrs. Mary Schmer of Muscatine; a brother George Hessler of Dayton, Ore., three grandchildren, Mrs. Norma M. Schmelzer, Almeda F. Schmoldt and David August Young and one great grandson, Gary D. Schmelzer.
Her husband's death occurred on March 1, 1942 and her parents also preceded her in death.

The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home and will remain there until services are held at 2 p.m. Mnday at Grace Lutheran church. The Rev. David Funk, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
