Funeral services for Carl Van Horn, 81, Atalissa, were held Sept. 25 at West Liberty.

Gordon Smith of Clarence officiated. Burial was in Oberman cemetery, Atalissa.

Mr. Van Horn died at Muscatine General hospital Sept. 23 after an extended illness.

Born June 19, 1888, near Cairo in Louisa county, he was a son of Jesse and Eugenia Smith Van Horn.

Carl Van Horn married the former Abigail Flint in 1919 at Atalissa. He was a member of the Atalissa Christian church and the Moose lodge. He had been employed by the Rock Island railroad for many years.

Survivors are a brother, Ernest, Milan; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jessie Corriell, West Liberty and Mrs. Emma Arnold, Atalissa; also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1946.
