Funeral services for Kenneth Chelf, 46, Atalissa, were held Jan. 22 at West Liberty with the Rev. Harland T. Gant officiating. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.

Mr. Chelf died Jan. 19 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 16, 1921 at West Liberty, the son of Robert C. and Jennie Utley Chelf. He married Ruth Siders Dec. 20, 1941 at Muscatine.

Chelf was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Mansell L. Phillips Post No. 509 American Legion and Ionic Masonic Lodge No. 120 of Atalissa.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a son, Wayne, a student at Iowa State University at Ames; a daughter, Marilyn at home; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Herrold, West Liberty and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Della) Terhune of Muscatine.
