MOSCOW–Phyllis Ann Hopkins, 70, of Moscow, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Celebration of Life will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society, Wilton Fire Department, or the Muscatine Domestic Violence Shelter.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the funeral home. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com .

Phyllis was born on September 10, 1950, in Muscatine, the daughter of D.J. and Lois Birkhofer Coram. Valia Dentino has been her committed partner for over 20 years. She was previously married to DeWayne Hopkins of Muscatine.

Among her pursuits, she was a social worker, women's advocate, farmer, and gardener. She lived on the same Birkhofer farmstead that her mother and siblings were born in. She graduated from Wilton High School, attended Muscatine Community College, received her Bachelors degree from University of Northern Iowa, and her Masters in Special Education from the University of Missouri.

Phyllis was the matriarch of our family. She loved her farm, her dogs Sunny and Evee, and stayed connected with friends and loved ones online. She enjoyed art and sketching and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by son, Jamie Hopkins and wife, Mary, of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Fletcher, Cooper and Addison Hopkins; one great granddaughter, Claire Hopkins; one brother, Bill Coram of Muscatine; her partner, Valia Dentino of Moscow; and nieces and nephews, Heidi Coram, Nick Coram, Deb Rasmussen, Sherri Swenson, and Laurie Foss.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wayne Coram; and her granddaughter, Abigail Hopkins.
