Funeral services were held Dec. 27 for Ray Edward Oepping, 56, who died at his home in Atalissa Dec. 25 after a short illness.
Gordon Smith officiated at the services which were held at Wilton Junction. Mrs. Emma Birkhofer was the organist.
Pallbearers were Glen Kennedy, Ed Waite, William McKillip, Jr., Ronald Baxter, Kenneth Chelf and George Morrison. The flower attendants were Mrs. William McKillip, Sr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chelf. Interment was at the Overman cemetery in Atalissa.
The son of Otto and Marian Dickey Oepping, he was born on April 29, 1908 in Atalissa, where he lived all his life.
He married Velma Markham Oct.7, 1931 in Malcomb, Ill. Mr. Oepping was a member of the Christian church in Atalissa. He was a sales representative for the Walnut Grove Feed Co.
Ray Oepping is survived by his wife, Velma, Atalissa; 2 sons, Raymond, Cedar Rapids and Vernon, Moscow; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ed (Mildred) Windman and Mrs. Albert (Nellie) Asmus, both of Wilton Junction and Mrs. Harry (Gladys) King, Jeffersonville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
