Rudiger K. “Rudy” Hirt, 67, of Muscatine, Passed away on Monday, December 1, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services, Muscatine. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Rudy’s name. Rudiger Klaus Hirt was born on June 16, 1953 in Kitzingen, Germany to Helen M. Hirt. When he was a young boy, Rudy came to live with his uncle and aunt, Steven and Gabriele Scherer who came to be known as “Mom and Dad”. On August 30, 1975, Rudy was united in marriage to Frances J. Thirtyacre in Aledo, Illinois. Rudy had worked for the police department of San Antonio from 1983-1989 and had always loved that line of work. He also was owner /operator of Hirt construction and had been in the carpentry trade since 1980. In his early days he loved to play the saxophone, doing so all during high school and for some time in bands and such after.

Rudy will be deeply missed by his wife, Frances of Muscatine; sons, Matthew (Teresa) Hirt of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Andrew (Roseanna) Hirt of Wheaton, Illinois; step son, James (Dianne) Smith of Fruitland; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Kurt (Jan) Hirt of Letts and Daen (Pia) Hirt of Bamberg, Germany and step-sister, Valerie (Dave) Walker of Scarborrow, England.

Rudy was preceded in death by his Mom, Helen and “Mom and Dad” Steven and Gabriele Scherer.
