Mrs. Anna Christine Valentine Nissen, 87, of Atalissa died Sept. 15 in a Muscatine nursing home.

Funeral services were Sept. 17 in West Liberty, with burial in Springdale cemetery in Clinton.

Mrs. Nissen was born Sept. 30, 1876, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Jorsensen, in Slesvig-Holstein, Denmark. She was a member of the Lutheran church. She came to the United States at the age of 11 with her parents and 5 sisters. The family settled in Clinton.

Mrs. Nissen married John Valentine who died in 1899. The couple had 2 sons. She later married Nis Nissen, who died in 1920.

Mrs. Nissen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Glenn Jensen, Atalissa; 2 sons, Carl Nissen, Atalissa and John Valentine, Ketchikan, Alaska; one step-son, Axel Nissen, Clinton, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nissen was preceded in death by 5 sisters, a brother, a son and one step-son.
