John M. Griffith Death Occurs at Residence Here

John McCurdy Griffith, aged 72 years, who had resided in Muscatine and Louisa counties for the past 30 years, died at his home, 1005 East Third street, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had been in failing health for the past two years and seriously ill since last June.
The son of James Griffith and Mary Foster Griffith, he was born in Illinois Dec. 26, 1871. He was engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement. He married Mark Kreger in Wapello in 1922.
Surviving are his widow, six children, and the following brothers and sisters: Albert of Colchester, Ill., Ben of Muscatine, Mrs. Polly Stoneking and Mrs. Eunice Hindbaugh of Muscatine, Mrs. Cynthia Robinson of Illinois, and Mrs. Nellie Steltzner of Columbus Junction. His parents, one child, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
The body is at the Riley-Meyers Funeral home and rites will be held there at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. E. W. McMurray, of the Lincoln Boulevard Baptist church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Funeral services for John McCurdy Griffith were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Riley-Meyers funeral home by the Rev. E. W. McMurray of the Lincoln Boulevard Baptist church. Burial was a Greenwood cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chester Stoneking, Fred Beal, Henry Newcomb, John Saultz, Edwin Carter and Raymond Cozad. Flower attendants were Betty Grothe, Mrs. Helen Ellis and Mrs. Waunita Meeke.
