Bertha Griffith Service Planned

Funeral Rites Will Be Conducted From Residence Wednesday Afternoon.

Funeral rites for Miss Bertha Griffith, lifelong resident of Muscatine who died at her home, 706 Pine street, Monday at 1:30 p.m., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home. Dr. David I. Berger, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be on the family lot at Greenwood cemetery.
Bertha Griffith was born in Muscatine Jan. 22, 1863, the daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Griffith, pioneer residents of Muscatine.
Two sisters, Mrs. George Hawley and Etta Griffith, preceded her in death several years ago. Surviving are three brothers, Harry Griffith of Muscatine, Will Griffith of Wilton, and Richard Griffith of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews, Mrs. W. E. Downer, Mrs. Elmer Nichols, Miss Margaret Griffith of Muscatine, Mrs. Ralph Pott of Cincinnati, Lisle R. Hawley of Chicago, and Harry Griffith of Wilton; beside a grandniece, Jean Hawley and a grandnephew, Dick Hawley, both of Chicago.
Miss Griffith was a member of the First Presbyterian church of this city. She has been in failing health for several years.
