Addison L. Scott, the son of John K. and Mary A. Scott, former owners of the Scott house here, died Saturday night at his home, 840 15th street, Des Moines.
Mr. Scott was born in Muscatine Aug. 30, 1864. He married Miss Helen Zimmerman at Phillipsburg, Kas. Dec. 21, 1889. Mrs. Scott was also formerly of Muscatine. Mr. Scott was a locomotive engineer for many years on the Rock Island railway and also on the Wabash line until he retired about six years ago because of ill health. Mr. Scott belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He is survived by his widow; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Middleton, Davenport, formerly of this city; one brother, Henry W. Scott, Long Beach, Calif. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. and Mrs. John K. Scott, parents of Mr. Scott, were pioneer residents of Muscatine, coming here from Ohio in 1859. They operated the Scott house, now the Welch apartments, for 40 years.
The body was brought to Muscatine and taken to the George Wittich Funeral Home, 210 Cedar street where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in the family lot.
