Drake Ronald Moody, four month, ten day old infant son of Dan and Laurie Moody, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services were Saturday, March 13 at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Rev. Ric Knox of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Casketbearers were Chris Belz and Matt Moody. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Drake was born October 30, 2003, in Muscatine, the son of Daniel and Laurie Belz Moody.

Drake was born with a congenital heart defect (HLHS), and underwent a successful heart transplant at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics February 22, 2004, but died from complications. To learn more about Drake and his rare heart defect, visit his website at www.babydrake.net.

He enjoyed his parents and he recognized his daddy's voice well. He really enjoyed music, being read to, and especially his "Twinkle Star" Mobile. His family and friends often referred to him as "Superboy". He was surrounded by loving family and friends daily and was very alert and enjoyed his surroundings. He was a strong little fighter taking everything head on.

Survivors include his parents, Dan and Laurie Moody; two brothers, Luke and Nate Martz, and one sister, Sami Moody, all of Muscatine; his paternal grandfather, Gary Moody of Muscatine; maternal grandmother Merle Jane Belz of Decorah; maternal great-grandmothers Ruth Belz of Decorah and Ursula Quanrude of Waukon; paternal great-grandparents John and June Moody of Muscatine; two uncles, Chris Belz of Cedar Falls and Matt (Jennifer) Moody of Muscatine; and cousins Lizz Smith and Cameron and Lauren Moody.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Nancy Moody; maternal grandfather Ronald Belz; paternal aunt Lisa Moody; maternal aunt Elizabeth Belz; and maternal great-grandfathers Roy Belz and Harold Quanrude.
