Mrs. Vina Maud Van Atta, 87, died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Van Atta at West Liberty Jan. 12. She had been ill for some time.

Mrs. Van Atta was born Sept. 27, 1874, in Rock Island county, Ill., the daughter of William and Sarah Johnston Weaver. She was married to George H. Van Atta Aug. 20, 1902, at Rock Island.

The couple farmed near West Liberty for a number of years. Mr. Van Atta retired in 1944 and the couple moved to town.

Mrs. Van Atta was a member of the Methodist church, in which she was active, and the American Legion auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; the son, Kenneth; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Voss, Atalissa; 2 grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters; and a twin sister, Mrs. May Schlueter, Davenport. Mrs. Van Atta was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Funeral services were Jan. 15 at West Liberty with burial in Oakridge cemetery.
