Fred Hoeksema, 55, of 606 West Seventh Street, Muscatine, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday at his home following a sudden heart attack.
Mr. Hoeksema was a life resident of Muscatine and was employed as a foreman at the c.E. Richard Packing Co. He was born Oct. 15, 1906, at Muscatine, the son of Fred and Mary DeVries Hoeksema.
He was married Oct. 14, 1932, at Muscatine, to Lillian Freese. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lillian C. Hoeksema of Muscatine; one son, Rev. Marvin Hoeksema, New Providence, Ia.; three grandchildren, Steven, James and John Hoeksema; three brothers, J.J. Hoeksema, Muscatine, Herman Hoeksema, Davenport, Ia., and Chester Hoeksema, Fulton, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Merle Dilley, Davenport.
He was preceded in death by parents, three sisters and two brothers.
The body is now at the Ralph J. Wittich funeral home where friends may call after 7 this evening. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran church, with Rev. E.L. Hageman in charge. Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery.
