FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN NEBRASKA
MISS KATE HOEFFLIN PASSES AWAY WEDNESDAY.
Muscatine Relatives Shocked by Sad Tidings As it Was Not Known That She Was Ill.
Miss Kate Hoefflin, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J.M. Hoefflin, formerly of this city, passed away on Wednesday at her home at Columbus, Nebraska, according to word which was received in this city today by Muscatine relatives. the announcement was a shock to her many relatives and friends here as it was not known that she was ill, and the cause of her death has not yet been learned by the Muscatine people. Miss Hoefflin was very well known in this city, having spent the greater part of her childhood here. She attended the Jefferson school for a number of years. About 12 years ago she left Muscatine with her parents for Missouri, where they remained several years. Later they went to Columbus, Neb., where Mr. Hoefflin secured the pastorate of the German Baptist church there. The deceased is survived by her parents, four sisters, Misses Minnie and Selma of Pennsylvania; Mary and Flora, at home, and two brothers, John, of Chicago, and Alvin, at home.
The remains will be brought to this city Monday afternoon and interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery. The funeral arrangements will be made later.
