George H. Steen, 77, prominent West Liberty farmer and hybrid corn grower, died Feb. 2 at his home after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Methodist church in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ray Orr in charge.

Mr. Steen was named as an Iowa Master Farmer in 1927, and was a Past President of the Iowa Crop Improvement Association.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, Fred, Jay and Logan, all of West Liberty; 2 daughters, Mrs. Pauline Waters, West Branch and Mrs. Ethel Bien, Davenport; 4 brothers, Herman, Wheaton, Ill., Charles, Des Moines, Blaine, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Leslie, West Liberty; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clara Skott, Middletown, Wis., Mrs. Dora Lessler, Claremont, Fla., and Mrs. Helen Huls, St. Cloud, Minn.; 8 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
