Nichols, Ia., Jan. 6. – John Wesley Rhodes, for 61 years a resident of Nichols, who died at his home Dec. 31, 1922, was buried in the Swickard cemetery following services at the Nichols Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. Bloomquist.
Mr. Rhodes, the son of Charles and Alice Rhodes, was born at Bloomington, Ill., and came to Nichols with his parents when but three years of age. After living 54 years on a farm north of here he moved to this city to make his home.
He was married to Amanda Slater, Aug. 24, 1880. His wife, three children, Mrs. Seaton of Ortonville, Minn.; Mrs. Pearl Seaton of West Liberty, and Clark Rhodes, of Nichols, survive him. There are also five grandchildren. A brother lives in Kansas City, mo., and two sisters living in California.
