Funeral services were held Thursday at West Liberty for Anton Peter Jensen, 79, who took his own life March 12.
The body was found hanging in the basement of his home in Atalissa at 3:15 p.m.
Ralph Figg, Muscatine county coroner, estimated death had occurred about four hours previously. No inquest was held.
Jensen had been in poor health for several years. Other members of the family left home at 10:30 a.m. and did not return until the middle of the afternoon.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jensen, he was born Jan. 30, 1878, in Denmark. He had lived at Atalissa for three years and previously lived in the West Liberty and Springdale communities. He married Louise Paulsen March 29, 1904, in West Branch. He had been a farmer during his active years.
Surviving are his wife; four sons, Harry, Davenport; Parvin, Cedar Rapids; Glen, Atalissa; and Ralph, Brownsville, Tex.; and a daughter, Mrs. Ardeth Schanel, Chicago. There are 10 grandchildren.
The Rev. David Shaeffer officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in Memorial park cemetery in Muscatine.
