Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Muscatine for Erle B. Turkle, 74, Atalissa, who died Monday at Muscatine General hospital, following a six-month illness. Dr. James Webster, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Overman cemetery, located near Atalissa.
A lifetime resident of Atalissa, Mr. Turkle ws born there Dec. 30, 1882. His parents were Parry and Belle Tobin Turkle. He was first married to Pearl VanHorn at Atalissa. His second marriage was to Clara Baker at Morrison, Ill., and he was married to Stella Maylone June 14, 1927, at Danville, Ill. He was a member of Mt. Calvary lodge No. 95, A.F.& A.M. Mr. Turkle was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. William Smith, Muscatine; a sister, Mrs. Eva Barnes, Philadelphia; a half-sister, Mrs. Jess Travis of Cedar Rapids, and another half-sister residing at Minneapolis, Minn., and one half-brother, Floyd Turkle of Cedar Rapids.
His first and second wives preceded him in death.
