William L. Watters, 85, a druggist at West Liberty for many years, died in Mercy hospital at Iowa City Dec. 31 after a short illness.
From 1907 to 1940 Mr. Watters operated a drug store in West Liberty. Prior to that he was in the drug business at Orient, Ill., Montezuma, and Wellman.
He was born near Atalissa Sept. 30, 1873, a son of Hansen B. and Ruth Parker Watters. He was graduated from the University of Iowa college of pharmacy in 1897 and was a member of the S.U.I. Emeritus club and Alumni association.
Mr. Watters was married to Mary McIntosh, of Atalissa Feb. 8, 1898.
He was a member of the Christian church, the Royal Arch Masons and the Rotary club, of which he was a charter member.
Survivors include a son, Howard, West Liberty, and a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Wells, Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife, 4 brothers and a grandchild.
Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m. at West Liberty with the Rev. David Shaffer officiating. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.
