Arthur Elmer LaRue, 79, died Dec. 27 at the home of a son, Charles, in Muscatine after an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 18, 1878, at Rochester, the son of Joel and Jane Carney LaRue. He had been a resident of Muscatine for 25 years. Before that he was a farmer.

He was married to Rose Burr Jan. 24, 1899, at Rochester. He is survived by seven sons: Arthur Jr., John, Darrell, Donald, Charles and Howard, Muscatine, and Virgil, California; two daughters, Mrs. James Honts and Mrs. Millie Collison, Muscatine.

He is also survived by a brother, three sisters, 46 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, a daughter, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at the Methodist church in Rochester with the Rev. Timothy Barrett in charge. Burial was at Bethel cemetery, near Rochester.
