Frank E. Sawyer Goes in Death; Rites Tuesday

Frank E. Sawyer, 85, of 403 Bartlett street, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday at Hershey hospital after an extended illness with complications.

A long-time resident of Muscatine, he was born in Canton, Ill., June 12, 1865, the son of Thomas R. and Margaret Akin Sawyer. He married the former Elizabeth Bishop in Muscatine Dec. 30, 1891. He was of Congregational faith.

One daughter, Mrs. Raymond C. Fuller of Muscatine, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Bridges of Washington survive, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one brother and two sisters.

The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home where it will remain for services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, to be conducted by the Rev. L. Van Wagenen, pastor of the First Congregational church. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
