Mrs. Effie M. Johnson, 66, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Bellevue hospital at Muscatine. She was born Aug. 5, 1882, at Dallas City, Ill., to Fred and Mary Artiz Birkhofer. She has lived in Moscow most of her life.

She was married to Millard Johnson Dec. 11, 1913. She was a member of Moscow Methodist church, Farm Bureau, W.S.C.S., and Order of Eastern Star, No. 365 at Wilton Junction.

Survivors include her husband, Millard; one son, Marvin, Moscow; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) Grings, Moscow; four brothers, John, Harry, and Arthur Birkhofer, Moscow, and Edward Birkhofer, Muscatine, and one sister, Mrs. Norton (Ethel) Lake, Moscow. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Funeral services were at Wilton Junction with the Rev. Robert Dodder officiating, Sunday. Burial was in the Moscow cemetery.
