Mrs. E. Pierson Called in Death; Rites Tuesday - Mrs. Estell F. Pierson, a resident of Muscatine until two years ago, died of uremic toxemia at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Hunter, near Cranston, Sunday morning after an illness of several weeks.

Estell Ferrall was born near Knoxville, Ia., June 16, 1857, the daughter of John E. and Cecelia Marsh Ferrall. While still a child, her parents moved back to their native state, Ohio, near Bluffton, Hancock county and here she grew to young womanhood. At the age of 15, she became a teacher in the Buffton school and subsequently taught in the schools at Leipsic, Hicksville and Findlay, Ia. She attended school at Ada, Ohio and at Tri-State Normal college at Angola, Ind.

On Dec. 25, 1889, she was united in marriage to Arthur Chester Pierson, a professor at Hiram college. Hiram Ohio, and they made their home there until Mr. Pierson’s death, in 1900.

Mrs. Pierson moved to Des Moines in 1903 and in 1905 became a teacher in the public schools of that city, continuing in that work for 17 years, retiring in 1922. She spent a few years in Minneapolis, Minn., before returning to Muscatine to make her home. She continued to live here until illness compelled her to leave and she resided in West Liberty for the past nine months.

Mrs. Person was an active worker in the Christian church, which she joined at an early age. She was also identified with the W. C. T. U. and the Missionary societies.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Strome, of Philadelphia, Penn., and Mrs. A. C. Hunter of Cranston, a stepson, Paul I. Pearson, of Chicago, a step-daughter, Mrs. Esther Wagner of New Rochelle, N.Y., a brother, the Rev. B. S. Ferrall of Buffalo, N.Y. , and five grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at the A. C. Hunter residence near Cranston at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, and at the West Liberty cemetery at 3 p.m.
