3 October 1918 - West Branch Times

Edith, daughter of Thomas and Susannah Birkett, was born on South Prairie June 27th, 1864, and departed this life Sept. 23, 1918, being aged at the time of her death, 54 years, 2 months and 26 days.

She was united in marriage December 30, 1888, to Charles E. Mosher. To this union were born six children--Mrs. Bessie Secrest of West Branch; Benjamin now in some Army Training Camp; Leslie in the Student Army Training Camp at the State University of Iowa; Gladys engaged as a school teacher; Ruth under the employ of Osborn & Lewis of West Liberty and Burton who is attending school at West Branch.

Besides her husband and children she leaves her aged father, Thomas Birkett, three sisters, Mrs. J. I. Nichols, Mrs. Ed. Fitzgerald and Mrs. Walter Mosher, all of West Liberty; two brothers, Vincent and Linley who reside on South Prairie, beside other more distant relatives and a multitude of friends.

Mrs. Mosher had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in West Liberty for years. She was of a quiet disposition, not given to social aspirations. Her home and family were her first considerations, in whose interests she was faithful and untiring. As a neighbor she will be very greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by two brothers. On Monday, Sept. 23, she quietly slipped away to join them on the other side of the river of Death.

Funeral services were held from the W. G. Mosher home, West Liberty, Ia., Thursday at 2:30, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Charles B. Hankins, and the body was laid to rest in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
