A long, hard fight with illness ended early Monday morning, Nov. 5, in the death of William Lemon, who passed away at his home on West Fifth street, where he and his family have lived since their removal from the farm north of West Branch about a year ago. Mr. Lemon's health was broken before he moved to West Liberty, and his attempts to win against disease brought him little relief. He was born in Pennsylvania, October 1, 1868, but came to Iowa when a young man. His marriage with Miss Edith St. Clair took place twenty-five years ago. One daughter, Loi?, was born to them. The widow and daughter survive. One brother, Joseph Lemon, makes his home in West Liberty, and assisted in caring for his brother during the final weeks. There are also four brothers and sisters living in Pennsylvania.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Charles B. Hankins. Burial was made at Oakridge cemetery. --West Liberty Index
