Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Tharp, 49, were held Monday afternoon from the First Methodist Episcopal church at West Liberty with the Rev. W. A. Smith in charge.

Mrs. Tharp, before her marriage, was Edith Smith, daughter of Joe and Caroline Smith of West Liberty. She was born Feb. 12, 1881, in West Liberty, where she spent most of her girlhood, graduating from the local high school. She taught school in Downey for several years and later taught for two years in West Liberty.

On June 29, 1904, she was married to Fred Tharp of West Liberty. Following their marriage they made their home in this community and also in Downey and Centerdale, where Mr. Tharp was in business. For the last three years they have lived in West Liberty. Mrs. Tharp died Saturday, following an illness of more than a year.

Surviving are the husband, and one daughter, Mrs. Fedale McInosh, who has been with her mother for the last month and assisted in caring for her. One brother survives, Lloyd Smith, of West Liberty.

Mrs. Tharp was a member of the Methodist church and also the Pythan Sister lodge.

Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.
