Lifetime Resident of Vicinity Succumbs
at Wilton Following Stroke(Journal News Service) Wilton--Mrs. William G. Griffith, a life-time resident of this vicinity, died at her home at 4:45 a.m. today. She had been in failing health for more than a year. Death was due to a stroke of paralysis which she suffered about five weeks ago. Ms. Griffith was formerly Olivia Johnston, the daughter of William and Louisa (Holmes) Johnston, early settlers, who came to this vicinity from Ohio in 1855. She was born in Cedar county but later moved to Wilton, where she spent most of her life. About 40 years ago, she was married to W.G. Griffith, Wilton undertaker. Mrs. Griffith was a member of the American Legion auxiliary. Surviving are her husband; one son, Harry "J" Griffith; a niece and nephew: Mrs. Will Lang and Earl C. Whitmer, of Wilton, and other nieces and nephews in Ida Grove and Los Angeles. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
