Lester L. Flake, 60, died Tuesday night at his home, Route 5, apparently of a sudden illness.
He was born May 30, 1912 In Muscatine County, the son of Harvey and Adella Douglas Flake, and had been a life resident of this community.
He married Sally Marie Jones. Mr. Flake was of Methodist faith and was a farmer. He belonged to the Moose lodge.
Survivors include one son, LeRoy Flake, Woodstock, Ill. ; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Ann Marie) Burroughs, Columbus Junction; two brothers, Harry, of Wilton, and Rueben, of Muscatine; and nine grandchildren.
His parents, one grandson, two brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. Burial will be River Junction cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 7 o'clock this evening.

Funeral services for Lester Flake, 60, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Paulus officiated, Mrs. Richard Dilts was: organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Ira Morgan and Rosetta Flake.
Pallbearers were Ira Morgan, Richard Lange, Vernon Gerard, Charles White, Gene Uthe, Charles Gaeta. Burial was in River Junction,
Mr. Flake died Tuesday at his home on route 5, Muscatine.
Included in his survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Carpenter of Muscatine and Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Uthe of West Liberty.
