Last Rites for H. P. Gabel are Set Wednesday – Funeral services have been arranged for H. P. Gabel, 74, who died at 5:15 a.m. Monday at his home, 1203 Fillmore street. The body was taken to the Geo. M. Wittich home and this afternoon was returned to the family home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Following the services here the body will be taken to Milbank, S.D. where rites will be held Friday afternoon in the Immanuel Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the LaBoldt Cemetery.
Mr. Gabel was born Nov. 5, 1878, at Blue Grass, the son of John and Catherine Hess Gabel. He has been a resident here for the past 46 years. His marriage to Odia Hedman took place July 22, 1903, in Davenport. He operated a broom factory here for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Elmer H., of Schenectady, N.Y., one brother, Wilbur of Douglas, N.D.; one sister, Mrs. Walter McCullough of Reedsburg, Wis.; and three grandchildren. Preceding his in death were his parents, two sisters and one brother.
