Nichols — William Gabel, 73, died at 3:40 p. m. Tuesday at his home after a lingering illness.

A farmer, Mr. Gabel had been a life-long resident of the Nichols community.

Funeral services will be held at the Snider funeral home at West Liberty Thursday at 2 p. m. with Rev. Fr. Vogel officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery, Nichols.

Mr. Gabel was born Jan. 28.1886, the son of Frederick and Emelia Hager Gabel. He married Margaret Umscheid Nov. 21. 1921, at Muscatine.

He is survived by his wile; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Schroeder of Marked Tree, Ark., and
Miss Julia Gabel of Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in-death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
