Sophia Tiglemann was born in, Lenen, Germany, on the 30th day of January, 1853, and died at her home in Pike township on the 12th day of May, 1915, at the age of 62 years 3 months and 12 days. She came to America in 1879 and was united in marriage to Henry Geirse in the same year and settled on a farm in Lake township, Muscatine county.
In 1884 she with her husband moved to West Point, Nebraska; where she lived for a period of ten years, after which the family moved to Elreno, Oklahoma, and in the fall of 1894 came back to Iowa and settled on a farm near Nichols, lowa, where she resided until the time of her death.
Her husband preceded her in death 20 years ago, leaving her with six children, four sons and two daughters, who are Henry, George, Adolph, Lena, Carl and Anna Geirse, all of Nichols, Iowa, also by two sisters and one brother, who reside in Lengeric, West Falen, Germany.

She united with the German Lutheran church at the early age of 11 years. The funeral was held at the home on Friday afternoon. May 14th. The service was conducted bv Rev. Bohn, of Nichols.
The interment was made in the Swickard cemetery at Nichols.
