Friday, 3 July 1914, page 7Beckie Rose Filmer was born in Lake township, Muscatine county, Ia., November 7, 1880. Departed this life in Iowa City, la., June 25, 1914, aged 33 years, 7 months, and 18 days. Mrs. Peters had been in poor health for some time, but her condition was not considered serious until recently; she submitted to an operation for gall-stones, at Iowa City, on June 23 and passed away June 25.
On July 11, 1900, she was united in marriage to August Peters. To this union were born four children, Eltha, age 11; Robert, 10 years; Russell, 5 years; and Albert 2 years of age. The husband, father, brothers and two sisters survive to mourn her loss. She was a devoted and affectionate wife and mother, a dutiful daughter and affectionate sister whose many acts of unselfish kindness will long be remembered by those who love her. At an early age she experienced religion and has remained a faithful and devoted member of the M. E, church for years. Her children have all been baptized, and it was her ambition to raise them up In the church.
The funeral sermon was preached by Rev H. F. Bohn, pastor, from the text, "Thy Will be Done." Interment in Swickard cemetery.
