Grandview — Jesse Benjamin Jarvis, lifelong resident of this community, died at his home here at 6 p. m. Monday after a lengthy illness.
The son of Benjamin and Ann Jarvis, he was born in the county Oct 4, 1861. He married Sadie Beik on Sept.l6, 1886 and eight children were born to the couple. Surviving besides the widow are the following children: Fred of Rockford, Vern of West Liberty, Jesse and Gail of Muscatine and Lester of Camp Billings, Salina, Kans., Mrs. Hazel Hartsock of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Mabel Persinger of Wever, la., and Mrs. Maggie Hammer of Grandview. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Emma Wallace of Trenton, Mo.
Funeral rites, in charge of the Dudgeon Funeral home of Wapello will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Grandview Community church with the Rev. C. B. Larson, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery at Muscatine.
