CODER, Francis L.
NICHOLS -- Francis L. Coder, 73, died early Monday, May 31, 1993, at his rural Nichols home following an extended illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Nichols United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim Walker will officiate. Burial will be at the Nichols Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home where a memorial has been established.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the family home, southeast of Nichols.

Mr. Coder was born June 8, 1919, in Muscatine County, a son of Harry M. and Jessie Lewis Coder. On Aug. 9, 1943, he married Gertrude A. Simpson in Muscatine.

He farmed his entire adult life in Muscatine County. He had worked for more than 39 year with the A.S.C.S. office.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 27 in Muscatine
He was a member of the Nichols United Methodist church, the Muscatine Elks Lodge No. 304, and Ducks Unlimited.
He was interested in conservation, nature and RV organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two sisters, Phyllis Hummell and Pauline Payne, one brother, Eugene Coder, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; his step mother, Madge Coder of Mount Pleasant, one uncle, Clinton K. Coder of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.
