William e. Loeb Services To Be Held Thursday

Nichols – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Nichols Methodist church for William E. Loeb, 80, who died at 4 p.m. Monday in Mercy hospital, Iowa City.
The Rev. Ed Norman will officiate and burial will be in the Nichols cemetery with the Sorden and Adams Funeral Home of Lone Tree.
The son of William and Elizabeth Bauer Loeb, he was born July 16, 1873 in Nichols. He attended Iowa Wesleyan college and served in the Blue Grass community as a minister. He returned to Nichols in 1912 where he operated a lumber business. Mr. Loeb was a member of the Masonic lodge and was one time mayor of Nichols.
Survivors include a son, John; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Diercks and Mrs. Jacob Wendt, both of Muscatine and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Laura Nash, two brothers, two sisters and his parents.
