RICHARZ FUNERAL HELD AT NICHOLS
Services at Home of Daughter Saturday; Relatives from Distance Attend.
Nichols, la., Aug. 5—The funeral of Theodore Richarz was held at the home of his daughter. Mrs. H. W. Smith. Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. E. S. Hehner conducted the services. The pallbearers were William Poole, Fred Poole, Nels Christopherson. H. N. Ryan. Gus Meyers and W. R. Schmltt. Mrs. William Shafer, Mrs. Nels Christopherson and Mrs. Anna Stafford were flower girls. Burial was in the Nichols cemetery.
Out of town relatives who were here for the funeral were J. L. Richarz of Dunnville, Ont., Mrs. M. Sexsmith, Mrs. L. C. Lauritsen and Mrs. J. L. Sherman of Chicago, a son and daughter of the deceased, and H. C. Smith of Durand, Mich., a grandson. Burial was In Nichols cemetery.
Theodore Richarz was a long time resident of Muscatine county and enlisted as a volunteer at Muscatine in Company K. Eighth Iowa cavalry during the Civil war. He served the full time of the war and was honorably discharged at Macon, Ga. He was a bugler. At the time of is enlistment he lived on the hill near the Salisbury bridge. Mr. Richarz loved to tell of the times when he would sound the bugle calls at his home and Louis Mills, living at Adams would hear and answer him.
The death of Mr. Richarz leaves only one surviving veteran of the Civil war living in Pike township.The Muscatine Journal and News Tribune
