Alma A. “Molly” Meerdink, 79, died Sunday morning, July 10, 1994, at her home, 121 E. Fulliam Ave., following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Riley Funeral Home with Lt. Jerry O’Neil of the Salvation Army officiating. Organist will be Vada Timm. Pallbearers will be John Meerdink, Warren “Skip” Meerdink, Dave Meerdink, Lowell Snyder, Doug Reisi, Ted Augspurger, Robert Brocket and Art Steinbaugh. Burial will be a Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Muscatine.

Mrs. Meerdink was born April 14, 1915, in Muscatine, the daughter of Adam Rudolph and Alma Meitz Bloch. She was a lifelong resident of Muscatine.

The former Alma Amelia Bloch married Ralph Meerdink on April 13, 1941, in Memphis, Missouri. She was a member of the Muscatine General Hospital Auxiliary, American Association of Retired Persons, Women of the Moose, Business and Professional Women and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She had been employed by Muscatine Seed and Supply for nine years and had retired following 31 years of employment with the USDA Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; one sister, Arlene Askam of West Liberty; her sister-in-law, Grace Meerdink of Muscatine, and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Barbara Brown of Galesburg, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Adam Bloch, a sister, Alberta Metz in 1977, and a sister in infancy.
