Helen Leona Harned of Englewood, Florida, formerly of West Branch, Iowa, passed away May 11, 2000 at the age of 80.
Mrs Harned died at the Englewood hospital following a stroke and a short illness. She had lived in her own home prior to her illness and resided at River Oaks Assisted Living for only a few weeks.
She was born April 11, 1912 in Iowa City, Iowa to Edward and Margaret Slavata. In 1931 she married Lloyd Harned of West Liberty. They farmed in the Lone Tree and West Branch area until they retired and moved to Englewood in the early 1970s. Her husband Lloyd had also served as a guard at the Hoover Library and both were active in their community and with bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents while still a young girl and her husband Lloyd in 1992. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews of her husband.
Funeral services were conducted at the Englewood Chapel of the Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood May 15. Burial was at the Gulf Pines Memorial park Cemetery in Englewood.
