Alice Marie Meyer, age 80 of 3210 Shamrock Drive, Iowa City died Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City of a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were held Saturday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home. Officiating was Mr. Charles Newcomb. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to Mercy Home Health Care.

Alice Marie Meyer was born January 26, 1920 in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Alma (Hudachek) Buline. She married Harold Meyer at West Liberty, Iowa, January 26, 1939. They lived on farms near Lone Tree and north of West Liberty until moving to Iowa City in 1961.

She was active in community affairs and was a 4-H leader during the time her three daughters participated in the Wapsie Cedar Pals 4-H Club. In 1957 she worked at Owens Brush in Iowa City and later at the University of Iowa Hillcrest Dining Service until retiring in 1985.

Her husband, a daughter Pamela Guyer and a grandson Brian Guyer, a granddaughter Lori Schneider, a brother Archie Buline and her parents died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Harold William “Bil” Meyer, Jr. of Iowa City, two daughters, Mary Frances (Sam) Schneider of West Liberty, Beverly Jean (David) Megan of Coralville, a sister, Verlee (Don) Hogan of Iowa City, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
