Dolores Escobedo, 77, died Saturday January 13, 2001, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty following a short illness.

Funeral mass was Tuesday, January 61, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty with Rev. Ed O’Melia officiating. Pallbearers were Jesus Escobedo, Raymundo Escobedo Jr, Delfino Lopez Jr., Pedro Escobedo Jr., Ivan Escobedo and Jesus Escobedo Jr. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty was in charge of arrangements.

She was born September 20, 1923, in Oregano, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of Jose and Juana Martell Rivas. She had lived in West Liberty 27 years moving from Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty.

She is survived by two sons and their wives: Jesus and Leticia Escobdo of West Liberty, Raymundo Jr and Angelica Escobedo of Del Rio, Texas. Three daughters and husbands: Ignacia and Wiston Cadena, San Juana and Fidel Garcia, Aurora and Delfino Lopez, all of West Liberty. A daughter in law: Olga Escobedo of West Liberty. Two brothers: Raul Rivas of Bracketville, Texas and Miguel Rivas of West Liberty. 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Pedro.
