Mildred V. Hunter, 89, of Kalona, formerly of West Liberty, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona of complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 16, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Pastor Mike Orthel and Pastor David L. Yoder officiated. Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established for West Liberty Ambulance Service and Pleasantview Home Alzheimer's Unit.
She was born January 28, 1914, to Edward and Alice Carran Hayslett at West Branch. She graduated from West Branch High School. She married Larimer Loyal Hunter on March 16, 1935, in West Branch. She was a homemaker, and member of Hartupee Social Club of West Liberty, West Liberty United Methodist Church and West Liberty Country Club.
She is survived by four daughters, Judith and Ervin Von Sprecken of Olin, Kay Kaalberg of Kalona, Patsy and David Kordick of West Liberty and June Hunter of Washington; a son, Richard Hunter of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Mary Hayslett of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, James and Hazel Hayslett of Summerfield, Florida; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larimer L. Hunter, in 1979; brothers, Allan Hayslett and Edward Hayslett; and a granddaughter, Shelly Kordick.
