John A. Ruby

John W. Ruby, 63, of Largo, Florida, a former resident of West Liberty, died Monday, August 8, 1977. He was born April 25, 1914 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Ernest and Daisy Cameron Ruby. He graduated from Iowa City high school in 1931.

He then organized and led a dance band called "Johnnie Ruby's Orchestra." In 1936 he married Dorothy Misel of West Liberty. They owned the Quality Cafe in conjunction with the dance band.

The Rubys came to live in West Liberty in 1940 where John worked with the Sinclair Agency. He worked in the oil business until his retirement in December 1975. Mr. and Mrs Ruby lived the last 18 months at 12963-139th St. N., Largo, Florida.

Survivors include his wife; to daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Mosher of Cleburne Texas and Mrs. Michael (Judy) Barkhurst of Grass Valley, California; a sister, Mrs. William (Olive) Dixon of Bettendorf; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Burial was August 12, at Oakridge Cemetery in West Liberty.
