Services for Delbert E. Phillips of Cass Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Atalissa, are Thursday, November 9, at 19:330 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty.

Mr. Phillips died Sunday, November 5, 2000, at North Country Regional Hospial in Bemidji, Minnesota, following a short illness. He was 70.

The Reverend Terry Mahnke will officiate. Burial will be at Overman Cemetery in Atalissa. A memorial fund has been established for the Leukemia Department of the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Phillips was born April 29, 1930, near Atalissa, a son of Carl and Elsie Gatzke Phillips. He graduated from Atalissa High School in 1947. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Korean Conflict. In March of 1987, he retired after 30 years from Stanley Consultants in Muscatine. He moved from the family farm in 1988 to make his home at Cass Lake, Minnesota. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa and a member of the American Legion Post No. 0584 in Wilton.

He is survived by three sisters, Audrey McMichael and her husband, Vernon, of Tampa, Florida, Ruth Sterner and her husband, Raymond, of Davenport, and Donna Jehle and her husband, Bob, of Durant; a cousin, Alyce Phillips of Durant; a very special friend, Raymond Coss, and his sons, Shane, Judd and Kieg, all of Cass Lake, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. A brother died earlier.
