Frank G. Smith, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with Betsey Neipert officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the West Liberty Fire and Rescue Unit.

Frank was born Jan. 14, 1918 in West Liberty, the son of Earl and Della Kramer Smith. On Feb. 21, 1940 he was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Brown in Mt. Pleasant. He had farmed for several years and later worked for the City of West Liberty from 1960 until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the West Liberty Saddle Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Christensen of Muscatine and Susan (Marvin) Hall of West Liberty; three sons, Robert A. (Nancy) Smith of West Liberty, Richard D. (Vera) Smith of West Liberty and William E. (Linda) Smith of Crawfordsville; one sister, Ethel Burnett of West Liberty, three brothers, Wayne (Betty) Smith, Robert Smith and Kenneth (Marietta) Smith, all of West Liberty; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia in 1980, brother Rodney, sister Betty Weinard and two grandsons.
