Ruth Ann Jansen, 60, of Muscatine, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Muscatine Care Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 4, at New Hope United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Parrott officiated. Burial was in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Jansen, Roy Nehas, Cody Nehas, Brad Wetzel. Emily Simmering and Autumn Nehas. Honorary pallbearers were Sean Ahern, Seamus Ahearn, Kevin Ahern, Dennis Ahern and Brian Ahern. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established in her name.

Ruth was born Oct. 23, 1942, in Iowa City, the daughter of Theodore and Guila (Billick) Jansen. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1961. Ruth loved to draw and was very involved with the Muscatine Art Center. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and participated in the adult bible study classes. Ruth was also an active member of Bridges and CO-OP in addition to volunteering at the Muscatine Care Center and Riverbend Nursing and Rehab. She worked at Crossroads in the office until 2001.

Ruth is survived by three sisters, Susan Ahern and husband, John, of Silvis, IL, Janet Simmering of Wilton, and Janellle Nehas and her husband, Roy, of Muscatine; one brother, Jim Jansen of Iowa City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
