Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 3, 1939:

Mrs. Anna Branstetter, 73, formerly of Muscatine, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Grau, 1017 East Fourth street, Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Houx and was born in Higginsville, Mo., January 3, 1866. She had lived in Ottumwa a year.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Grau, Mrs. Gwendolyn Blakely of Muscatine and Mrs. Maurine Quigley of Columbus, Ohio; a granddaughter, Mrs. Herbert Westrate of Muscatine and a brother, Frank L. Houx of Cody, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodson.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Johnson’s funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Harold Lancaster, D.D. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Muscatine.
