Paul Oberman
West Liberty-Paul A. Oberman, 78, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 17, 1990, at the University Hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of August and Anna Tiek Oberman. He attended country schools and graduated from University High School in Iowa City. He later graduated from the University of Iowa. On June 1, 1939, he was married to the former Florence Warren at her parents' home south of Iowa City. The couple had farmed southeast of West Liberty for 45 years. He was an active member of the Farm Bureau and the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church.
For several years the couple had made a winter home is Mission, Texas.
He enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; one daughter, Mrs. Van (Ruth Ann) Futrell of Murray, KY., one brother, Wilbur Oberman, of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Nathan, Darby and Jon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald; two sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services were today, Monday, Nov 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home with the Rev. Robyn Plocher officiating. Burial was at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established.
