MUSCATINE, IA - Thomas D. Wenger, 81, Muscatine, died Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Muscatine Care Center.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 1004 at George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland.

Mr. Wenger was born August 16, 1923 in Wayland, the son of Allen C. and Izyel A. (Miller) Wenger. He married Margaret Wolters on June 24, 1949, in West Liberty.

He was of the Mennonite faith.

He was a World War II veteran and served in the U. S. Army 727 Tractor Battalion in the Pacific Theater.

He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1948. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 304 and the Elks Chanters, Iowa Engineering Society and a former member of the Jaycee’s.

He was employed at Stanley Consultants for 25 years. He was a mechanical engineer, head of the Power Group and retired as vice president. He was also head of the engineering and maintenance department at GPC from 1963-1973. He was a member of the Levy Commission for the City of Muscatine.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, auto mechanics, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Tom A. Wenger of Wilton, and Jeffrey P. Wenger and wife, Betsy, of Wauseon, OH; two daughters, Karen Ann Macon and husband, James, of West Des Moines, and Susan L. Roelle and husband, Steve, of Muscatine; a brother, Chris Wenger of Arizona; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack Wenger.
