The funeral of Mrs. William Schuessler, who passed away yesterday morning at her home north of the city, will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home. The services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Marteo of the German Evangelical church. Interment will be made in the Kline cemetery.
Mrs. William Schuessler passed away at 1:45 in the morning, March 3, at the home of her son, Theodore Schuessler, five and one half miles north of Muscatine, on the Iowa City road. She had attained the age of 72 years, 4 months and 14 days. Her death was due to dropsy and heart trouble. Mrs. Schuessler was a native of Germany and first saw the light of day at Baden, October 16, 1841. She resided there until she was nine years of age. With her parents she came to America in 1851, locating in the state of Illinois. At the age of 23 years Miss Eva Schlemmer was united m marriage to William Schuessler. They resided in Illinois for eleven years and then moved to Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death seven years ago. Ten children were born to this union, five of whom preceded her in death. Three daughters and two sons survive, these being Mrs. Adam Schmitt, Mrs. John Will of Nichols; Mrs. Alfred Houvenagle of Summitt and Frederick William Schuessler, living four and a half miles north of Muscatine and John Theodore Schuessler at the old home place. Mrs. Schuessler is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Schuesler was a well known resident of this community. She was a member of the German Evangelical church of Muscatine.
