Mrs. Emma O. Hixon, age 76, died Monday, May 24 at the University Hospital, Iowa City, following a short illness.
Services were held at Snider Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 26 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. William Keller officiating. Burial was in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
She was born March 8, 1906 in Wapello, the daughter of Wallace and Kathryn Wheatley Kline. She attended Muscatine schools and married Charles L. Hixon September 21, 1931. She moved to West Liberty following Mr. Hixon’s death in 1939. She was employed for several years at the Central Café and Miller’s Department Store, until her retirement.
Survivors are her son, Jack of Iowa City; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Leo) Schalk of West Liberty; and a brother, Stewart, also of West Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers, and one sister.
